Military dog tags have been in use in the United States for many years. Current mil-spec tags issued by the U.S. military are thinner than those issued during WW2 and Korea but they also use modern raised text to be easier to read.
Our tags are embossed with the rolled-edge face up and the hole on the left as illustrated in our dog tag previewer. Some bases do them rolled-edge face down but we are on a first-name basis with the machinery manufacturer and they always do them rolled-edge face up.
We offer stainless steel tags in dull and bright finishes. The dull is a matte type of finish and the bright is kind of like shiny chrome bumpers on a car.
We hope this is helpful. We have over 30,000 customers at all levels and from around the country and many bases around the world.
